"On my honor"

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
The Boy Scout Oath

I was never a Boy Scout. Didn't need to be. Dad taught me and my brother all we needed to know about being a boy and becoming a man. Hard work, honesty, doing more than our share; I find myself taking these things into consideration almost every day. Catching fish in the pond down the dirt road we lived on, hunting on our back 40. Thats what growing up was:fixing our own flat tires on our bikes and drinking too much Faygo.

"On My Honor" - I think we have lost that sense of pursuing our best efforts in our country. Instead, we are always looking for what someone else can do for us, so that we can get ahead, often never recognizing those who have helped us. Patriotism is no longer about our love for our country and doing what's best for the whole.  It's boastfully showing how much you dislike those who disagree with you, and how their ways will lead us astray.

Same goes with being fit mentally and physically. Food has come from a source of nutrition to one more alley of convenience. Morality has gone out the window, granted it is a subjective topic. But what ever happened to being good to yourself and your neighbor? You cnt respect anyone else if you dont respect yourself. And that goes along with feeding your brain with McDonaldized food and media.

ill continue later
